There's is the Church of Our Lady of Health, Madonna, at one end of the beach greeting people of all faiths and the Velankani Church. There is also the Ashtalakshmi Temple, the country's newest shore temple dedicated to the eight manifestations of Goddess Mahalakshmi and a Ganesh Temple. Located on the northern end of the beach, hundreds of people pay homage to these places everyday. Another famous recognizable landmark on the picturesque Elliot's Beach is the Schmidt Memorial, a stone memorial dedicated to a Dutch sailor, Karl Schmidt, who lost his life saving a drowning fellow. About a kilometer to the north of the Elliot's Beach is where the river Adyar meets the sea.
