The dome of the church is about 52 feet diameter on the inside, and this is supported by sixteen fluted, Corinthian columns. Constructed using the ‘Syrian masonry’ technique it is believed to be one of the few in the world to be supported by columns of this height. The walls of the church are exceptionally decorated with stained glass and in one of the inner halls is placed a bell, the strike of which is quite pleasant. Tourists are all left awed by the grandeur of the stucco work. The foundation of St. Andrew’s Church is said to have been laid by digging about 150 wells underneath.
